Duck Night

On Tuesday, December 29, we made it back to Dongbaek safely around 3 pm. We took it easy and then met up with Betsy at around 6 for some duck at a restaurant conveniently called, "Ducks" (pronounced 'duck suh' in Korean).

The duck is cooked on the skillet in the middle of the table as seen below. There are many accompaniments to the meal, as well. We enjoyed miso soup, lettuce and mint leaves as wraps, a white bean paste with wasabi, kimchi, and grilled potatoes and onions.

After the meal, Korean dessert is usually fried rice or noodles. We ordered some fried rice (pokkum bap). They cook the rice right in the duck grease. They start by mashing it down like a pancake (as shown below). Then, when it starts to crisp up, they scrape off some of the top layer to serve as fried rice and then roll the rest of crispy rice pancake into a tube. YUMMY!

Here's Benny, hungry for some rice!

I have an easy night tonight, so I'll try to get two more posts done! I'm soooo sorry!
