Dr. Fish!

The next day, Wednesday, December 30, 2009, we planned our trip to a Dr. Fish cafe in Gangnam. Betsy, Karen and I were in attendance. My friend, Marissa, and Dustin Teacher were scheduled to arrive from America that evening, so we wanted to get our tootsies in tip top shape for their arrival.

The cafe was absolutely beautiful. It was decorated in rich, jewel tones, and was complete with free wireless internet. We made our way to the coffee counter, ordered our drinks and paid for our fifteen minutes of Dr. Fish treatment.

Look how pretty our coffees were:

Included in the cost of your drink, was an unlimited bread and black coffee bar. You could stay there all day!

Here's the Bear and I with our pinkies up! It wasn't tea, but oh well.
While we enjoyed our coffee, we anxiously watched the fish tank, hoping to see someone go before us so we knew what to expect.

When it was our turn we made our way to the tank. This is what was staring back at us. Menacing, right?

First, we had our feet rinsed off with FREEZING cold water.

Then, we, on the count of three, put our feet in the tank.

Here's some photos of our reactions to the tickle torture:

It literally felt like a hundred fish were sucking on your feet, because, well, they were. The fish don't have teeth, so it didn't hurt. It just tickled. Oh boy, did it tickle! You do get used to it, though, so after a while we could carry on a casual conversation.
and even smile!

Overall, our feet felt smoother, but I didn't notice significant callous reduction. Maybe I'll have to try for longer than 15 minutes next time.
